Imagine Butte is an open community project that seeks collaborative solutions to upgrade the Richest Hill on Earth for the new millenium. It's goal is to inspire Butte's youth to take a leading role in shaping the future for Housing, Public Resources, Environment and Restoration Planning, Historic Preservation, Neighborhood Revitalization Plans and Recreation Plan Activities.

Youth Leadership is combined with the wisdom of elder residents to create a history, a tapestry for action, and a game plan for success. All current residents, former residents, public officials and global friends are encouraged to comment and take part in
Imagine Butte activity.

ISSUE BACKGROUNDER: DISCOVERING THE “CITY OF CHAMPIONS”

One of the themes in Butte’s past and present world is “CITY OF CHAMPIONS,” which describes Butte’s explosively successful COMPETITIVE NATURE and its ability to produce big-hearted, fearless, and passionate champions in all aspects of life, culture as well as sports. These “unstoppable” forces are clarified in a smelter of Butte’s challenges, and the sheer Love of Butte.

EXAMPLE: Recently, Butte High won a new recognition for having the BEST ACADEMIC RECORD among its athletes. SMART city of champions, too. CONGRATULATIONS BUTTE HIGH STUDENT ATHLETES, TEACHERS, STAFF AND PARENTS!

The bar is set high. From Evel Knievel to Levi Leipheimer, Butte’s athletes and sportsters are an amazing group of larger-than-life champions, who compete, perform and play on a global stage. Recent Evel Daze and the lovely Irish Festival made our youth say they feel like Butte can be champions in business and recreation, too. Many “Only in Butte” moments were experienced by our young people.

Feeling left out? Not to worry, we need to hear from every household in town, and we will! WE ARE STILL EARLY IN THE DISCOVERY PROCESS. Join our global discussion and discovery of Butte.

What is it about Butte’s culture, past or present, that produces this City of Champions achievement?

NEW THINK

"No problem can be solved from the same
consciousness that created it.
We must learn to see the world anew."
